Tang Soo Do: The Art of Discipline and Harmony

What is Traditional Tang Soo Do?
Tang Soo Do is a traditional Korean martial art that embodies the spirit of discipline, harmony, and precision. Founded by Grandmaster Hwang Kee in the 1940s, it blends techniques from various martial arts systems into a unified and elegant practice. During his time in Manchuria, Hwang Kee studied Chinese martial arts, which influenced the flowing and graceful movements of Tang Soo Do. Upon returning to Korea, he integrated these elements with Okinawan Karate and traditional Korean arts such as Su Bak Do, creating a martial art that balances strength and fluidity. In 1945, he established his first Moo Duk Kwan martial arts school, laying the foundation for Tang Soo Do's global legacy.
